Matthaus Schiestl

[Germany] (b 1869/d 1939)

"(..) In 1873 , his family moved to Würzburg , where Schiestl worked at his father Woodcarver workshop as an apprentice.. In 1894 he began his training at the Munich Fine arts Academy under Wilhelm von Diez  and Ludwig von Lofftz.. In 1905 he took an educational trip to the Holy Land and to Egypt before being appointed Professor in 1912..Between 1920 and 1939 he worked as a painter in St. Wendel . "
