He studied at the Art and Industrial College in Nizhny Novgorod (1926-28) and in Saratov (1928-30). Since 1943 artistic director of the Studio of Military Artists. MBGrekov. In 1941-45 he worked in the front for the newspaper "Pravda" (1942-43)..(..) People's Artist of the USSR (1963), corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1949)... he was twice winner of the State Prize of the USSR (1943, 1951) and was awarded with the Order of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the Red Star and many medals.
