Marta Cavalcanti Poppe was born in Rio de Janeiro.. her family, originally from the Province of Pernambuco , moved to Rio de Janeiro to start a new life.. Arts were always present in Marta's life.. she danced ballet and at the age of 8 she start learning painting with the Expressionist painter Georgina Albuquerque. Drawing was always her main passion and at the age of 17, after ending her studies , Marta attended Painting classes at the Fine Arts School... she started working at the Post and Telegraph Company (ECT) in 1962 as a designer in the engineering Section.. 10 years later, with the creation of the Philatelic Department , she starts her work as a Stamp Designer and continued in the company until retirement in 1995...

[ two series (one from 1978 and other from 1979) , both designed by Marta Poppe and L. Ramos, are missing... they are not presented , because I don't know what is the role of each designer in the production of the stamps, or the stamps each one of them has designed.. Additional research is needed and an update will come , when I know these answers...]
