Claude Hertenberger

[France] (b 1912/d 2002)

"Renown Engraver, former Professor at the Dijon National School of Fine Arts, Claude Hertenberger  died in Paris at the age of 90.. Born in 1912 in a Family of Alsatians emigrants, he started his Artistic live as a Painter and then began his engraver career..He studied Art History and was graduated by the Art and History Institute of Sorbonne. Won the 1942  Engraving "Prix de Rome" .; Arrested in Italy by the Gestapo during almost 4 years, Hertenberger is also the author of several large scale Works (some with many meters...)  and Interior decoration of Monuments and Palaces.. Won many National awards as the "Ordre National du Merite" and the "Legion d`Honneur"..
