Demetrios Galanis

[Greece][France]  (b 1879/d 1966)

Demetrios Galanis was a Greek painter who became also a French Naturalized 1900 he attended  the Paris Fine Arts School and some years later, at the beginning of his career , he worked for several French and German Magazines 1920 and 1921 he was already exhibiting with Major figures of the XX Century Painting like Matisse, Chagall and Picasso , and 1922 marks his first solo Exhibition that established his Reputation among the demanding world of Art Experts and critics....Landscapes were important in his work but his concern and fondness for the 'Human form' is reminded as the real high point of his Art... the French state honored him with the highest distinctions: full professor at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris and a lifelong member of the Académie Française. 
He was also known for his works in wood engraving and etching...
