"Jaroslav Votruba studied from 1908/1912 at the Prague Art and Industrial School under Prof. Priesler Schikaneder.. (...) He worked as a drawing professor in Olomouc, Brno and Prostějov, and since 1919 at the Bratislava State Fair. (..) After a work injury, he went into disability, and he began to be involved only in artistic and organizational work, being alternately in Bratislava and Starý Smokove. (..) Prior to 1918, he devoted mainly to graphic art, especially woodcuts, exlibris and novels and he exhibited his works regularly since 1911. In 1917 he published the first graphic collection "Haná". (..)  He was a member of several artistic societies in Moravia and Slovakia ( Association of Moravian Artists , Slovak Artistic Contest and Slovak Artists ), in which he participated in the preparation of several exhibitions of Slovak artists in Slovakia and Moravia. (..) During the Slovak Republic, he made several graphic competitions with his designs of stamps, banknotes and souvenirs. (..) "
