Ferdinand Spiegel

[Germany] (b 1879/d 1950)


"Ferdinand Spiegel (1879 Wuerzburg, Germany - 1950 ibidem) was a well-known Munich (and later Berlin) painter and graphic artist, and member of the Prussian Academy of Arts. He was a pupil of Diez in Munich and worked until 1914 mainly as a decoration artist for various exhibition halls and hotels, as well as illustrator for Munich "Jugend" and "Simplicissimus". In 1914/15 he took part in WWI and in 1916 (after being wounded) he received invitation from Arthur Kampf to be a professor at the State Academy in Berlin. "
