"Philip von Schantz started to paint at Otte Shield in 1950...(..) Between 1952 and 1958, he studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm. He was since its debut in the early 1950s, constantly acclaimed as a painter and graphic artist. During the 1970s, he became very popular with the public . (...) Philip von Schantz was a professor of graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts 1963-1973 and director of the Museum of Modern Art from 1973 to 1977. Between 1972-1988 he was chairman of the Association of Graphic Arts and Chairman of the Academy of Arts between 1987 and 1993."
