Hermann Eidenbenz

[Switzerland] (b 1902/d 1993)


"At the time of his birth his family was living in India where his father manage several companies...His training as a graphic artist took place in Switzerland, first at Orell Füssli in Zurich and then in the Zurich School of Applied Arts...(..)   In 1926 he became a teacher of writing and graphic arts at the Magdeburg Arts and Crafts school in Germany...He practiced six years of this profession before he opened his own graphic studio in Basel with his brothers Reinhold and Willi.. (..) In 1937 he was at the Pavilion of Switzerland at the World Exhibition in Paris and 1940 to 1943 he taught at the Basel general trade school... (..) In 1953 he returned to Germany and was Head of commercial art at the Braunschweig School of Applied Arts  ,after developing ,a few years before, two  Graphic fonts . (..)  Eidenbenz created numerous logos and posters and worked also as Bank Note and Postage stamp Designer for Switzerland  and Germany..."
