Nilaus Fristrup

[Denmark] (b 1836/d 1909)


At the age of 16, Nilaus Fristrup went to the Copenhagen Art Academy where he won five years later the silver Medal in Decoration Art.. While doing his time as a military, he was wounded and became a Prisoner of War.. during this forced stay in Austria , he was granted the opportunity of continuing his Art studies..from 1857 he started a number of Exhibitions of his Landscape Paintings and mainly of his decorative Art work.. he worked in a large quantity of Decorative projects like the Royal Theater spectator salon , that gave him the necessary publicity among the Art community...in 1876 he became a Professor at the Technical Society School and won a Scholarship to improve his skills and knowledge in Italy..  In 1883 he became a member of the Art Academy and in1890, he was elected member of the Royal Academy.
