Abdullah Al-Muharraqi

[Bahrain] (b 1939)

" Abdullah Al-Muharraqi is recognized as the founding father of modern Arab art in the Gulf. His work is held by leading collectors throughout the GCC. The colours and content of his work embodies the Arabian Peninsula like no other, chronicling the passage of time from the past to the present. His paintings exhibit a level of raw emotion unexplored by any other artist from the region, and Al-Muharraqi believes his pictures communicate more than words ever could. Qatar has honoured Abdulla Al-Muharraqi with a hall devoted to his work in the Museum of Modern Arab Art. He is the only Arab artist to receive such an honour. " (Meem Galery)
