Johannes Britze

[Denmark] (b 1895/d 1960)


Johannes Britze was born in Berlin in 1895 as the son of the engraver Friedrich Britze . In 1910 he moved with his parents to Copenhagen, where he initially studied engraving.After, he studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts ; during World War I he served in the German Army and after the war, he returned to Denmark and became a Danish Citizen. Resumed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts ,and like his father, Johannes developed into a prominent bookplates Artist. He engraved all Danish stamps between 1933-44 and engraved the Swedish stamp "Public School 100 years".
