Ivo Rezek

[Croatia] (b 1898/d 1979)


In October 1915 went to the Higher School of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (now the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb ). He studies a year, and in 1916 was mobilized ( 1st World war is in progress). In 1918 he moved to Prague , where he went in the local Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Vlachs Bukovac . After studying until 1924, he became interested in wall art painting and  goes to Paris , where he studied at the Sorbonne , the fresco technique with Marcel Lenoir *. Returns to Zagreb in 1931 ; Rezek was a sharp critic of fascism (drawing a caricature of Hitler and Mussolini) and political persecution was in order before and during the War .. In 1947 . became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he worked until his retirement in 1968.
