"Robert Mahias was a painter , watercolourist , decorator and illustrator born in Brussels from French parents... (..) Student of Fernand Cormon at the Paris School of Fine Arts and at the School of Decorative Arts, he was a member of the jury of the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts which takes place in 1925 (..) after having exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries , at the Salon d'Automne and at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts... (..) He moved to Canada to teach decorative composition at the Montreal School of Fine Arts . At the same time, he made church windows, mosaics and decorative works.(...) In 1924 and 1925, he exhibited at the Salon of the Art Association of Montreal, which became the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts . An exhibition was entirely devoted to him in December 1926 at the Montreal Scott Gallery (oils, watercolors and gouaches). (...) Back in France, he became a professor at the School of Applied Arts in Paris . He was also a member of the "Cornet libertine community"..(..)"
