Stamp Art: Hioki Masatoshi

[Japan] (b 1911)

Born in Hukui city on 16th of June 1911. Graduated from High School for Arts and Crafts, he begin to work in the Museum of Communications making poster designs. He was later engaged in stamp Designing at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications since 1946.

Hioki was then assigned to the Ministry of Telecommunications in 1949 during the reorganization of ministries and agencies.

切手を作る人々　日置　勝駿　氏（ひおき　まさとし）

明治４３年６月１６日（１９１１）福井市に生る。昭和８年（１９３３）東京高等工芸学校図案化卒業したる後、通信博物館に勤務、ポスター等の図案作成に従事、昭和２４年（１９４９）機構改革に際し電気通信省に配属された。

郵政省在職中、昭和21年（１９４６）以後は郵便切手図案にも携わり、通常切手では1946年発行の1円（靖国神社）３０銭（法隆寺五重塔）１円（富士山）１９４７年発行の１円（前島）５円（炭鉱夫）１９４９年発行の３円（捕鯨）記念切手では満州国建国十周年記念２０銭（１９４２）郵便創始七十五周年記念１５銭（１９４６）司法保護記念日２円（１９４７）全国緑化運動１円２０銭（１９４８）教育復興運動１円２０銭（１９４８）第三回国民体育大会記念（水泳）５円（１９４８）第四回国民体育大会記念（スケート）５円（１９４９）国土緑化運動５円（１９４９）子供の日５円（１９４９）の切手図案を作成した外、１９４５年台湾で発行された３銭、５銭、１０銭の数字切手の原画執筆に当たった。
