"Jiri Antonin Svengsbir was a Czech engraver , graphic artist and illustrator, author of many prints and stamps. He was trained as a medal engraver and studied graphic art at the Prague School of Applied Arts....He engraved his first stamps in 1947/48 and continued a prolific career as both Designer and Engraver, being the Author of more than 250 stamps. (..) In addition, he created over a thousand prints and small prints, often with Prague motifs, illustrated about 30 books and also painted on porcelain. "
