"Maurice Barraud left school at the age of 14 and trained as a graphic designer. At the same time he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva... There he studied with Pierre Pignolat and James Vibert . After the apprenticeship he worked two more years in the graphic studio of his teacher and then continued to work with his brother François Barraud autonomously... (...) in 1914 he received a scholarship from the city of Geneva.. (..) during the 20's Maurice traveled a lot through Italy, France , Spain and Switzerland.. (..) He achieved great success with his Nudes and Landscapes,but women portraits had also great demand..Besides painting Barraud worked always with graphical methods, particularly lithography and drypoint and he also made numerous book illustrations "
