Ansis Zihrul

[Latvia] (b 1883/d 1942)


 Ansis Zihrul ('Ansis Cirulis' in Latvian) studied and graduated from the Riga German Craftsmen Society School (1899 - 1902), Veniamin Bloom School of Art (1903 - 1904), Julia Madernieks studio (1904 - 1906) and Stieglitz Central Technical Drawing School in St. Petersburg (1906)...from 1908 to 1914 he spent the winters in Paris where he attended the Julian Art Academy .. After receiving several prizes, he won the "Grand Prix" of the 1935 Brussels World Exhibition and the gold Medal of the 1937 Paris World Exhibition..
During his Career , he worked with ceramics, Paintings (Landscapes, Portraits, historical composition , but mainly Ancient Mythology) , posters, bookmarks, stamps, design of residential places, drawings for application in tapestry, interior Decoration, etc..
