Renato Garrasi

[Italy] (b 1915/d 1990)

There are times when everything we do is not enough to reach our goal.. I have tried everything to get Biographical data from Garrasi, because there are many references to him in the Net..I though that acquiring this kind of data would be easy, but  in the end I only got ..nothing.!! however , I know that Garrasi designed some stamps from Italy in the first years of the 40's  and then he went to Argentina where he made his first stamp in 1949... He designed also Notes for Argentina..

[ it is probable that  one or more stamps are missing in the year 1947, because I have no data from that year in Italy... Further research is needed and perhaps an Update in the near future..Meanwhile , I will see if Garrasi has worked in other European or South American Countries..]

  3. I, too, am looking for information on Garassi - as a bank note collector. I believe it's Renato Garassi who's listed as the engraver of the Banco de Espana 1000 Peseta note from 9 January 1940 - printed by Calcografia e Cartevaori de Milan. However I can find almost nothing else about Garassi.

    1. Hello,how are you??Thank for your comment..
for me ,there is no surprise this absence of info about some Artists, who many times have devoted their life to the Main printing companies of their country... The Artist is eclipsed by the Company and this is so common with stamp designers...!!!even in Portugal, where there is plenty of information about all the Artists, I managed to find that José de Moura , the man that designed almost all the 60's stamps from the Colonies, doesn't exist... or Bernardino Lancetta , in Brasil, many other names in south America... it is difficult to find info, because in many countries , Globalization was just a word that never came out of the paper, and so all the work from anonymous people was not yet recovered , collected and studied to end in our computers as the most desired food of our days ... information..!!! I will keep trying to do my posts always with biographies, but it is very difficult in places like the Americas (North excluded, of course..) , Africa or Asia to find it..
well ,if I find out more info about Garrasi ,I'll keep you informed...thank You again for your comment.. You are always welcome to do it..!

      Regards

      (Luis)
