Georgi Zhelezarov

[Bulgaria] (b 1897/d 1982)


" Zhelezarov Georgi was born on January 25, 1897 in the village Marchevo, Blagoevgrad. In 1918, he graduated from art-industrial school in Sofia (now NAA) in “Graphics” and “Decorative Arts” . In 1920 he co-founded the Society of Independent Artists. In the period from 1926 to 1928, he visited Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Istanbul and Florence, Italy. In Algiers, he starts his designers work as a lithographer in Tipolitografskoto shop, a branch of the Paris company “Societe Anonyme”. From 1930 until his retirement in 1957 Zhelezarov served as master chromolithograph, artist, technical director and head of department at the State lithographic printing. His work is associated with the production of originals of bank notes, stamps, stamps and certificates.  During the 1930s and 40s , he actively participated in the exhibitions of the Society of Independent Artists and at exhibitions of the Society of Artists in Bulgaria. His pictures are owned by galleries and private collections in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Finland and others. Georgi Zhelezarov died on February 21, 1982 in Sofia. " (Gallery City
