Sebastião Rodrigues

[Portugal] (b 1929)



His professional career starts in 1946 at the Artistic Publicity Agency .. during the 50's , first in the atelier of his great friend Manuel Rodrigues then as a independent worker , Sebastião Rodrigues  works for the NIS (National Information Secretary) and make contacts with other Publishers.. Also contributed to the Magazine "Almanaque" , making all the design , covers and paging ... In the 60's , begin's  to work with all the main Portuguese Publishers (Verbo, Europa-America,Minerva, Arcádia, Livraria Sá Da Costa , etc..) .. this period is also marked by numerous and varied orders from Official and particular costumers and for his collaboration with the Gulbenkian Foundation ( that continued until the end of the 80's..)  ; it is for the 'Gulbenkian Museum' and for the 'Fine Arts' section of this Foundation that Sebastião Rodrigues makes several of his Master Pieces...
From 1980 to 1985 ,while working for the Bank of Portugal, wrote the book "O Papel-Moeda em Portugal" . Won many National and International Prizes of which we can highlight the  'Award of Excellence ' of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations in 1991 and the Portuguese Order of "Mérito" in 1995.
