Corrado Mezzana (1st Part / Italy Stamps)

[Italy] (b 1890/d 1952)

(..) The natural tendency for art, which illuminated his youth, started him on classical studies: in 1903 he obtained a Baccalaureate and in 1912 a law degree. The same thesis - published in volume and widely appreciated - on "The legislation of the fine arts and antiques" is a document of his constant vocation (...)  the Institute of Fine Arts marked his intense artistic preparation and the innate genius won him in 1912 the painting competition "Original" of the Royal Academy of S. Luke, achieving a pension for 10 years.(..)his preparation ,even the technical and professional,  provoked  the keenest interest from illustrious masters. (..) He was a member, since it's establishment ,of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Art in Central Italy: its Collaboration in this area became intense after the Second World War due to the reconstruction of destroyed churches.  His advice, his clear vision of the artistic and religious needs of the country were highly appreciated .His devotion to Art in all it's aspects is obvious and exposed to all by the numerous Associations, Commissions and other Public Activity's he was involved as coordinator, promoter, or even President.. his work is abundant , well documented, and spread through all Italy...
