"Of his Father, Lithographer of profession, Werner Weiskonig had the precocious talent for drawing...He soon quit the Basic School to learn Graphical Design, a new Profession available in a specialized section of the St. Gall School of Arts and Crafts...at 18 , he received the task of learning Stamp Designing and after some exhibitions of his talents , he caught the attention of the Swiss Postal Administration that ,invited him to participate in future public contests of stamp designing...
In 1930/31 he continued his education and formation in Dusseldorf and in 1938 he completed his first series of stamps... with time he started to won several contests and rapidly he became part of the most recognized group of Swiss stamp Designers..."
