"Otakar Spaniel studied at the Engraving School in Jablonec nad Nisou . In 1901 he graduated from the Vienna Medal Academy under prof. Josef Tautenhayn . From 1902 to 1904 he continued his studies at the Prague Fine Arts Academy under the direction of J. V. Myslbek ; he then completed his Fine Arts education in Paris where he was a student of Alexandre Charpentier . (...) In 1917 he became a professor at the Applied Arts School in Prague and from 1919 he was a professor at the Arts Academy. (..) from 1902 to 1949 he was a member of the Fine Artists Association and its chairman from 1919...(...)"
