"Gustav Laern started his Artistic life with his caricatures and cartoons while working for Magazines like Krydseren ,Corsairs,Viking or/and Tyrihans during the 90's of the XIX Century...(...) during this period , he also illustrated several books from writers like  Anthon B. Nilsen ( Elias Kræmmer ) and Lars Dilling...(...)  after the turn of the century, he started to devote more of his time to Sculpture where he grant fame because of his ability outer portrait likeness and fast delivery...Laerum performed many portrait sculptures that are spread all over Norway... "
