[France] (b 1906/d 1984)
I didn't found many information regarding Robert Caulet, but the one I manage to get show us a man commonly know by it's role in the resistance against the Nazi Regime, but his professional activity led him to travel through some of the African colonies, like many other Artists and this is a good sign because his stamps were only issued in Reunion.. the missing link here is his activity for the Ministry of the Colonies, responsible for the recruitment of Artists for Graphical Design activity in the colonies (Postage stamps, Posters, etc).. perhaps with some more time, this data will appear....
"Born in 1906, Robert Caulet was a Drawing Professor... during one of his travels to Germany in 1935, he understands the Nazi Regime Spirit and Ideology...in 1937 he settled in Dakar where he joined the mobilization of the Senegalese riflemen... he arrived at Tulle in 1941 and teach at the local Lyceum..his resistant activity starts in this period .."

ReplyDeleteHello.. Thank you for your comment...As You can see I always try to find some info in the Net , to build a very small Biography, where the data from the Artist's Education (where he studied, specially superior studies..) , and some brief lines about his Professional Activity are the main guide lines...In your father's case, the Education information is missing..if you have something regarding this period it would be very helpful... I also leave links to articles in the Net that somehow give the background to the information I provide in these biographies...
DeleteThank you again, and all the info you provide will be updated to this post, with or without reference to your name, according to your desire...
Regards
