Jacob Jongert

[Netherlands] (b 1883/d 1942)


"Jacob Jongert was a Dutch graphic artist , illustrator , decorator, wall painter, glazier , painter , decorative artist, advertising designer , teacher at academy , ceramic designer, etcher , lithographer and bookbinding designer.  He studied first at the 'Quellinusschool' from 1899 to 1902, and then at the Amsterdam State School of Applied Arts from 1902 to 1903 and at the Amsterdam State Academy of Fine Arts  in 1903-04 , where he was a student of Richard Roland Holst . (..) From 1918 to 1940 he was head teacher at the Department of Decorative Arts and Applied Arts of the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts and Technical Sciences. (..) From 1923 to 1940 he was in charge of the advertising department of Van Nelle in Rotterdam , where he celebrated designs for the packaging of tea , coffee and tobacco products."
