[France (Guadeloupe)] (b 1890/d 1984)
" Gilbert de Chambertrand was student of the Carnot high School , but he interrupted his studies before the baccalaureate to dedicate himself to reading and Poetry... he published his first Poem at the age of 15 in the Magazine "Le Liberal" and after he travel to France and arrive at Toulon where he start working as Photographer... in 1912 he return to Guadeloupe to continue his work in Photography and after a while he married..In 1917 one of his works , ' L'Honneur des Monvoisin ' , achieved great success and in the following year he wrote two other play's where the French and the Native language were used alternately...he also worked as Librarian and Drawing Professor ; the 1928 Great Cyclone destroyed his home and a major part of his Artistic legacy... he then moved to France where he restarted to work as a photographer before entering the French Ultramarine Museum staff and soon he was able to write to several publications and multiply his lectures...in 1947 he published the most famous of his works ,' Titine Grosbonda ' , a collection of novels and short stories..
