Abel Mignon

[France] (b 1861/d 1936)


Abel Mignon always dreamed to be a Painter, but his father thought that Engraving was the best for him...he had lessons of Painting and engraving in Paris ,and in 1883 his work started to flourish when he received his first awards...In 1912 he started to work as Engraver in many of the stamps for the colonies and in 1924 he engraved his first French stamp, included in the series that commemorates the Exposition of modern Decorative Arts...in 1925 he received the direction of the Comairas Drawing and Painting School ... during his all life he was awarded with numerous prizes and Honors.
