Friedrich Eduard Eichens

[Germany] (b 1804/d 1877)


"From 1819-1825 Eichens was a pupil of Ludwig Buchhorn (1770-1856). From autumn 1827 he studied drawing in Paris for one year. From Paris he travelled to Italy, where he studied under Paolo Toschi (1788-1854) in Parma. In Venice and Milan he made drawings after old master paintings. Winter 1831/32 he stayed in Rome, then in Naples for a month. In 1832 he came back to Berlin, where he became member of the academy of Arts in 1841. In Berlin he worked as a draughtsman, copper engraver and etcher."
