Pedro Guedes

[Portugal] (b 1874/d ??)

Born in Macau, came to Portugal during his childhood ; studied in Casa Pia and the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon where he became professor during the 30's.. profoundly linked to the birth of the Fine Arts National Society, he was very active between 1901 and 1957 and his works were mostly oil paintings, Watercolors and illustrations..

Jaime Martins Barata

[Portugal] (b 1899/d 1970)



His work included the design of numerous stamps, coins, bank notes, illustrations, Book Covers and even Monumental Paintings...After his High School studies in Portalegre, he moved to Lisbon , with his Mother and Brother in 1910.. Graduated in the Lisbon University, after being professor in Secondary Schools of Lisbon, Portalegre and Setubal... His Artistic Career had an rapid rise with the Annual Exhibitions of the Fine Arts Artist Society, where he was awarded with several prizes.. Jaime Barata was director of the Magazine "Domingo Ilustrado" , famous in those days... in 1939 he traveled to Germany and France to Update his Design teaching skills.. Between 1947 and 1968 he served as consultant  at the CTT General and Artistic Directorate...
