Gonczi Gebhardt

[Hungary] (b 1902/d 1993)


Gönczi began to make graphic designs at a young age. In addition to posters, he designed menus, emblems, stamps, and labels. Between 1918 and 1922, he studied at the Iparművészeti Iskola (School for Applied Arts), where his masters were Ferenc Helbing and Jenő Haranghy. The production of Posters was his main activity during the 20's and 30's.. After this period he worked for several private company's and his Graphic Design Activity was complemented with illustration and bookplates...Worked for the Red Cross during the WWII , creating and designing Heroic images...He continued his Poster Designing activity after the War in Political Propaganda and later in Tourism , that seems to establish itself as his main activity until the 60's and 70's..
