切手を作る人々 吉田 豊氏

明治22年2月13日(1889)山口県徳山市に生まれる。生地の中学校を修了後、画家を志して上京し、日本水彩画会研究所に入所、水彩画を修め、水彩画会の他、二科会、光風会帝展、平和博などに作品を発表、現に日本水彩画会名誉会員である。逓信省に入ったのは明治42年6月で、飛行郵便試行記念(1919年発行)切手から郵便切手の製作に携わり、昭和10年(1935年)一旦退職するまで図案部主任として切手発行の計画及び図案作成に従事した。退職後満州国の嘱託として切手図案執筆に従ったが終戦後再び郵政省の嘱託として復帰切手図案の作成に従っている。
最近の作に、普通切手では前島密(15銭)数字(35銭)茶つみ(5円)穂高(16円)多寶塔(80銭、4円)金魚(35円)記念切手では郵便創始75年(4円)第二回国体(1円20銭)円盤投、第3回国体(5円)走高跳、文化切手では、市川団十郎その他、観光切手では宇治川(8円及び24円)などがある。

Born in Tokuyama City, Yamaguchi Prefecture on February 13  1889. After graduating from the junior high school of his born place, he came up to Tokyo in pursuit of being a painter, went to Tokyo Watercolor Painting Research Institute and majored in watercolor painting ; besides the watercolor painting society, he also exhibitted works at workshops, such as Nika Society, Emperor Expo of Kouhuu society and Peace Expo,  Yutaka is an honorary member of Japan Watercolor painting Society. He entered the Ministry of Communication in June of Meiji 42th, began his career from the production of postage stamps, with a comemorative stamp of flying testing mail (issued in 1919). Until his retirement in 1954, he was engaged in planning and drawing designs as chief of Department . His work was always related to postage stamps, not only following the postwork stamp designation as a commission of Manchuria after his retirement, or after the end of the war again as a commission of the Ministry of Communication.
