Peet Aren

[Estonia] (b 1889/d 1970)


After finishing his studies in the local School in 1905 , Peet Aren attended the St. Petersburg Art Academy and graduated in 1909, when he also exhibited for the first time in Tartu.. from 1909 to 1912 he worked in an Architecture Office while continuing his Artistic development this time in the field of Graphic Design and Book illustration... in 1914 he started a long travel through foreign countries, along with his brother and sister.. arrested in Germany when the WWI started in 1914, he escaped and returned to Estonia.. Until the end of the war, and during the German occupation he worked for the Ministry of War being in the front line as an illustrator and Photographer..in 1920 Peet Aren was invited to teach Drawing and Watercolors in the State Art School.. During five years he continued this work , and was able to start creating scenery's for Estonia Theatre.. At the same time he was doing book illustration , caricatures and Posters... Aren was also responsible for many redecoration's  of Public Buildings and Publicity Campaigns .. He migrated to the US in 1949.
