In 1945 ,Freddy Ryman started to study Art as a hobby ,and with time he became a Free-Lance Stamp Designer...He started his prolific career in 1966 and slowly build a solid reputation in the Philatelic World with some of his stamps reaching high prices in the market... He also contributed to the design of Gibraltar's Coins..

Francesco Chiappelli

[Italy] (b 1890/d 1947)


Francesco Chiappelli was born in Pistoia in a wealthy family of great cultural traditions. Follows classical studies and graduated in 1906 at the High School Nicholas Forteguerri.. (..) Encouraged by his father, he entered the studio of Raffaello Sorbi in Florence , to pursue his studies in painting and drawing..(..) he graduated at the age of 23 at the Florence Fine Arts Academy...he always find the studies much uninteresting , but after attending some classes of Etching directed by Celestino Celestini and Ludovico Tommasi , understands that he had found his vocation. (..) his first works are acclaimed by critics .. in 1918 he joined the Army.. after the war he returned to his Artistic life winning several awards in his many exhibitions... in 1931 and due to financial problems , he became professor of Graphic Arts at the Florence Art Institute..from 1936 to the end of his life he gained World status with many drawings and  some series of etchings today unobtainable..

Georges Gimel

[France] (b 1898/d 1962)


"Georges Gimel lived at Domène and at Grenoble, where he studied at the Ecole des Arts Industriels, until the age of 16 at which time he moved to Paris (..) In 1916 he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris, at the Studio of Jean-Paul Laurens and at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. After the war in 1919 he returned at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, at the Studio of Jean-Antoine Injalbert and at the same time he will become a pupil of the Académie Julian and also worked together with his warf riend the sculptor Henri Bouchard.(..) An artistic dynamo, he linked the schools of beaux arts and commercial/artistic design: He created fabric designs for clothing designers Paul Poiret and Jean Patou.(..) In Paris, numerous exhibitions at the Art Gallery’s, (..)  gained him worldwide recognition. (..) In 1930, Gimel began to create immense frescoes (..) and one of this works will be owned by the Vatican and another by the Bibliothèque Nationale of Paris. (..) In 1937 Gimel took part in the Exposition Universelle de Paris and there he created the interior design for the Pavillon du Dauphiné...(..) for 1945 on he devoted himself to his art and to the making of his enamels where his genius allowed him to combine technical and practical aspects to create an indestructible form of enamel painting. In 1949, he exhibited 91 enamel works at the Art Gallery Bernheim Jeune in Paris. Later, thanks to the Ministère des Affaires Etrangères, several of his enamels were sent abroad to Rome (Italy) and Saarbrücken, (Germany) others were part of a traveling exhibition in the United States who started at the Yale University Art Gallery in 1954. "

Joana Bielschowsky [ 1st Part / Brazil Stamps ]

Joana Bielschowsky was born in the city of Rio De Janeiro.. She studied drawing and Painting in the Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro.. also attended classes of painting in the Rio de Janeiro Fine Arts Institute.. she has also a specialization in Industrial Design and visual Programming at the Superior School of Industrial Design and has exhibited several times Nationally and Internationally.. Joana is the designer of several Brazilian and Mexican stamps and she is best know in Mexico by her married name Joana Bielschoswsky Aguirre..
