Jonas Buračas

[Lithuania] (b 1898/d 1977)


Jonas Buracas graduated from Kaunas Art School in 1927 and during the following 3 years he traveled to Paris, Berlin and Riga to attend further studies...his first exhibitions have taken place from 1936 on.. His work was diverse and respected well defined periods of time where he experimented several branches of the Art of Painting : watercolors and oil painting with nature motifs, architectural Paintings, portraits, Urban Landscapes, and other experiences made during his time studying in Paris ... Works as Graphic Artist are also known , mainly Stamp Designing and creation of  Medals and Lithuanian State Awards...

Richard Joseph King

[Ireland] (b 1907/d 1974)


Richard Joseph King was an Irish stained glass artist and illustrator. He was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland, where his father was a sergeant in the Royal Irish Constabulary. In 1926 he became a student at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and he entered the stained glass studio of Harry Clarke in 1928. Clarke died in early 1931and King completed the ongoing work on the windows of St. Mel’s Cathedral in Longford, managing the studio from 1935 to 1940. He then worked independently from his own studio in Dalkey. Many of his illustrations are to be found in the Capuchin Annual from 1940 onwards. Between 1933 and 1949 he designed twelve Irish postage stamps.

Barbara Arnason

[Great Britain][Iceland] (b 1911/d 1975)


"Born in Petersfield, she was the twin sister of writer and illustrator Ursula Moray Williams. She attended Winchester College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Soon after graduating she was asked to illustrate Icelandic sagas, which resulted in her travelling to Iceland in 1936, where she met sculptor and painter Magnús Á. Árnason.They married in 1937 and she moved to Iceland the same year. Barbara was already known as a book illustrator before moving to Iceland, and also became known there for pioneering work in wood engraving and for watercolors of landscapes and children. She also worked with textiles, and in her final years with watercolor engraving."

After a quick search in the Net, I found out almost 'zero' information about the Artist...no biographical data , not even the date of birth...from what I could see , Jean Marie Petey was an Illustrator mainly focused in the Design of Postcards and Posters...
