Jeno Haranghy

[Hungary] (b 1894/ d 1951)


"Studied at the National Art School and at the Baia Mare Painting School... he was Assistant Professor for three Years, from 1915 to 1918 and then Professor at the Applied Arts School...(..) worked until 1934 in the Decorative Arts and then in the Graphics Arts Department....(..) this next period of time was accomplished with travels through countries like France, Italy,Spain, Germany and Ethiopia...(..) He was a very prolific Creator , with works in Illustration and book covers, Designer, Stained glass,wall paintings, Ex-Libris ,etc..he worked mainly in etching and Lithography...He exhibited regularly his work and was a member of several Artistic Associations, like the Arts and Crafts society, the MAPE Artist Guild, etc..." George Atkinson

[Ireland] (b 1880/d 1941)

After attending the Cork's Art School , George won a Scholarship to study in the South Kensington Art School in London..  while in London, he visited Paris and Munich; After returning to Dublin, he was assistant Professor in the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art , for 4 years, before becoming Professor in 1918 , activity he maintained until his death...
at the same time he continued his Artistic life with works in Painting, etching , engraving  and design...He was latter appointed as National Gallery Director...

Sean O'Sullivan

[Íreland] (b 1906/d 1964)


"The Irish portrait painter and printmaker Sean O'Sullivan was born in Dublin in 1906. He studied drawing at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art where he won a scholarship and studied lithography at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. After this, he studied fine art painting and figure painting in Paris at Colarossi's and La Grande Chaumiere. (..) Returning to London in the mid 1920s, O'Sullivan found work in book design and printmaking. Moving back to Dublin, he focused on portrait art, completing a number of paintings in oils as well as crayon and pencil.He began exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) in 1926, at the age of 20, contributing an average of six paintings a year until 1964. Most of his works were portraits interspersed with landscape painting of the West of Ireland."
