Sean O'Sullivan

[Íreland] (b 1906/d 1964)


"The Irish portrait painter and printmaker Sean O'Sullivan was born in Dublin in 1906. He studied drawing at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art where he won a scholarship and studied lithography at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. After this, he studied fine art painting and figure painting in Paris at Colarossi's and La Grande Chaumiere. (..) Returning to London in the mid 1920s, O'Sullivan found work in book design and printmaking. Moving back to Dublin, he focused on portrait art, completing a number of paintings in oils as well as crayon and pencil.He began exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) in 1926, at the age of 20, contributing an average of six paintings a year until 1964. Most of his works were portraits interspersed with landscape painting of the West of Ireland."

[Germany][Paraguay] (b 1875/d 1945)

Born in Kassel , Germany, Carlos Rochóll arrived at Paraguay for the first time in 1899, to dedicate himself to Scientific and Educational tasks..With the help of his Scientific Background, he was the Founding Member of the Paraguayan School Museum... He naturalized himself Paraguayan in 1910...Rochóll supervised the Postal Service for ten years... He was then nominated Director of the Postal Museum , position he maintained until 1936..He came to be , among other activities, technical adviser and Designer of Postage Stamps.. He wrote several documents about the Design world..Died in Asunción  in 17 January 1945...

Carlo Parmeggiani

Carlo Permaggiani worked specially in Watercolors ,etching and book illustration ..Famous mainly due to the Design of the King Victor Emmanuel III postage stamp in 1927 . From 1907 to 1933 he exhibited his work in the 'Biennale D'Arte Di Venezia".. One of his Master works is the Decoration of the Ceiling of the 'Saletta Dei Veleni' in the Castle of Ferrara...
