Julio Resende

[Portugal] (b 1917/d 2011)



Finished the degree in Painting of the Porto Superior School of Fine Arts in 1945..Made his first Exhibition in the so called "1st Independent Exhibition" in 1944.. Left to Paris to continue his study's... all the work he made during the time in France was exhibited in Portugal in 1949...Until the 60's he absorb many of the modern tendencies of Painting with a special approach to abstract concepts and research with Geometric forms...Professor in the PSSFA  during the 60's he is considered as a experimenter of European Painting due to the constant mixing of different currents and ideas..

Maluda

[Portugal] (b 1934/d 1999)



Being born in Goa, India, soon moved to Mozambique where she start's painting at the age of 14.. the earlier stages of her work consists mainly in portraits ; made some collective exhibitions , along with 4 other painters, in Mozambique (1961,...,1963) ...
Obtained a Scholarship of  the Gulbenkian Foundation and moved to Lisbon .. from 1964 to 1967 lived in Paris , studying in the "Academie de La Grande Chaumiére" where she maintained contacts with great painters .. Moved definitely to Lisbon in 1967 and started a group of Oil paintings about the city.. along with the exhibitions of 1969 and 1973 , in 1974 she made the portrait of the Journalist and Actress Ana Zanatti , one of the most inspired works of her career... From 1975 to 1978 she lived and worked in Brasil , England  and Switzerland..The projection she already had at a National level, was rapidly crossing borders to other parts of the world and the 80's were in fact the emergence and consolidation of a new name in the World Art Panorama..
During these years , she started two of her most famous series of paintings ("Windows" and "fruits" ) and made many exhibitions in foreign countries... Maluda was awarded with many Prizes , both National and International during her life..

Was a illustrator, Cartoonist, Caricaturist, Architect, Painter and Writer..Started his career as a Cartoonist in the so called 'Portuguese Youth Movement (Mocidade Portuguesa) ' Style while illustrating the Official Publications of the Organization.. More freedom was on his way , when he started working in the Magazine "Camarada" , writing and illustrating the Adventures of 'Chico' , a young 'boxeur' , later published in independent volumes...
His distinct drawing was left in numerous magazines and publications...
