José Veloso Salgado

[Portugal] (b 1864 /d 1945)



Originally from Galicia , Spain, was naturalized Portuguese in 1887.. Came to Lisbon in 1875 where he attended the Fine Arts School.. Later went to Paris where he made the first exhibition ... during 1915 to 1920 we can find some of his work at the Magazine 'Atlântida'..
Awarded with many National and International Prizes..

João Pedroso Gomes da Silva

[Portugal] (b 1825 / d 1890)




Was Professor of the Lisbon School of Fine Arts.. the Excellency of his work earned him medals of Silver and Bronze in the Fine Arts Promotion Society in 1865 and 1880.. The first  works are dated 1837 ; the illustration of Magazines and Books was also among his diverse work ... in 1872  wrote the book "The Wooden Engraving in Portugal" where he imitates all the styles of Metal engraving... The sea and the representation of ships and Naval scenes were his passion and a great number of paintings , drawings and engravings with this thematic was made...

Eudócio de Azedo Gneco

[Portugal] (b 1849 /d 1911)



Engraver, medalist and sculptor apprentice , it was through Politics that his name was highlighted , being one of the founding members of the Portuguese Socialist Party in 1875.
His work in 'Casa da Moeda' starts in 1865 , achieving some reputation as medalist and typographic engraver.. during his life worked also in fabrics printing and electroplating...
