João Pedroso Gomes da Silva

[Portugal] (b 1825 / d 1890)




Was Professor of the Lisbon School of Fine Arts.. the Excellency of his work earned him medals of Silver and Bronze in the Fine Arts Promotion Society in 1865 and 1880.. The first  works are dated 1837 ; the illustration of Magazines and Books was also among his diverse work ... in 1872  wrote the book "The Wooden Engraving in Portugal" where he imitates all the styles of Metal engraving... The sea and the representation of ships and Naval scenes were his passion and a great number of paintings , drawings and engravings with this thematic was made...

Eudócio de Azedo Gneco

[Portugal] (b 1849 /d 1911)



Engraver, medalist and sculptor apprentice , it was through Politics that his name was highlighted , being one of the founding members of the Portuguese Socialist Party in 1875.
His work in 'Casa da Moeda' starts in 1865 , achieving some reputation as medalist and typographic engraver.. during his life worked also in fabrics printing and electroplating...

Maria Keil

[Portugal] (b 1914 / d 2012)



Attended the Lisbon Fine Arts School in 1929 ... Made the first exhibition in Lisbon 1939.. Her work is vast and diverse.. painting, drawing , illustration, tiles, ceramics, graphic design, tapestry, etc ... Starting in the end of the 50's , her work with tiles brought modern elements that contributed to a renovation of this branch of Art in Portugal.. Illustration of Children literature and renown Portuguese Authors was the field of work that remained more constant through out the years ; Having won some prizes during her career , Maria Keil was awarded in 1980 with the Military Order of 'Santiago da Espada'..
